File System Cryptography is the encryption of an entire file system or partition on a hard disk or other block device. A symmetric key is used to encrypt and decrypt the contents of an encrypted file system. The most common algorithm is the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in 128bit, 192bit, or 256bit lengths.

GnuPG is the GNU project's complete and free implementation of the OpenPGP standard as defined by RFC2440 . GnuPG, also known as GPG, is a command line tool with features for easy integration with other applications. A wealth of frontend applications and libraries are available.
