This is useful for a throw away phone number. If you have to give somebody a phone number to call you but are afraid they might inappropriately share it with others you can give them this. If there is a problem, stop using it and get another one.

Asterisk@Home

Do you use it? How is it? Since winning the phone I haven't done much with it other then setup a free incoming phone number on Asterisk. I've used Nufone and Freedigits.com, and both the sound quality seems to me worse then the poor cell reception I get in my apartment.

Yes, I have used Asterisk

Yes, I have used Asterisk for all my phone calls for years. For it to work well you need a good broadband connection, which is difficult to find in Gainesville and you need IP Traffic Shaping. Basically that means you need to have a Linux router and use its traffic shaping to make sure VOIP goes before anything else. You also have to make sure all buffering happens in Linux and not in your broadband modem. Contact me at (my first name)@(my last name).net for details.
