Description:

GatorLUG Meeting Agenda for August 20, 2014

6:00 - 6:20 Announcements / General Discussion

6:20 - 7:10 Continuous Integration & Deployment with Open Source tools | Colin Hines

Are you frustrated when you know exactly how (and how long) to fix a bug yet it takes weeks or months for bugfixes to be completed? Do you struggle with going from the one individual coder to a group and run into environment mismatches, library/artifact confusion, and compilation headaches? What does it mean when all those weird cloud companies deploy multiple times a day?

A workflow and toolchain will be presented that will follow a code commit from start to finish, including building and deploying to a web facing host. Some of the pieces of this toolchain that will be used will be: Github, Jenkins, and a previously unreleased deployment tool called SDI. Some other items that will be covered briefly are: JBoss (servlet container), Borland's Silktest (automated GUI testing), Artifactory, and NewRelic.

Colin Hines is a Network Architect / Release Engineer at Tower Hill Insurance Group.

7:10 - 8:00pm Open discussion, meet and greet someone new

Location:
The Brew Spot Cafe 1000 Northeast 16th Avenue, Gainesville, FL
