Description:

GatorLUG Meeting Agenda for February 20, 2013

6:00 - 6:30 Announcements / General Discussion

6:30 - 7:45 Building A Cloud Service | Tony Pecora

Cloud computing is the use of computing resources (hardware and software) that are delivered as a service over a network (typically the Internet). The name comes from the use of a cloud-shaped symbol as an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it contains in system diagrams. Cloud computing entrusts remote services with a user's data, software and computation.

Tony Pecora has built his own cloud computing service and has located it in GRU's datacenter in Gainesville, FL. Tony evaluated many different technologies (both hardware and software) and learned the hard way how to build a cloud service from scratch. Today his service is up and running and he has a business model to support it.

At this meeting, Tony will discuss the design and performance of his infrastructure, his goals for the future and will answer your questions.

7:45 - 8:00 Open discussion, meet and greet someone new

Location:
The Brew Spot Cafe | 1000 Northeast 16th Avenue Gainesville, FL 32601
