GatorLUG Meeting | 2012-02-15 | 6-8pm | BigBlueButton | Fred Dixon
GatorLUG Meeting Agenda for February 15, 2012
6:00 - 6:30 Announcements / General Discussion
6:30 - 7:45 BigBlueButton | Fred Dixon
BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system built on over fourteen open source components to create an integrated solution that runs on mac, unix, or PC computers. GatorLUG might be able to use BigBlueButton in the future to record meetings and allow people to participate if they can not make it in person to a meeting. Fred Dixon will join us for the meeting via BigBlueButton and give a presentation about what it can do. We will also take questions from the audience (hopefully, via wireless mic).
BigBlueButton supports sharing of slides (PDF and PPT), video, whiteboard, chat, voice over IP (using FreeSWITCH), and desktops. It can record and playback sessions (slides, audio, and chat). It runs on Mac, Unix, and PC computers, and it is supported by a community of developers that care about good design and a streamlined user experience.
Fred Dixon is one of the core developers for BigBlueButton, an open source web conferencing system for distance education. He has co-author of the BigBlueButtonBN Moodle integration and has been involved with development of the BlueButton Sakai integration.
Fred Dixon is also CEO of Blindside Networks, the company that started the BigBlueButton project.
7:45 - 8:00 Open discussion, meet and greet someone new
