6:00 - 6:30 Announcements / General Discussion
6:30 - 7:30 Forensic Analysis with Linux Tools | Derrius Marlin
The ancient world lacked standardized forensic practices, which aided criminals in escaping punishment. Criminal investigations and trials relied on forced confessions and witness testimony which often fell short of what was needed to bring justice. Thus, a field of study known as forensic science was developed to create techniques for collecting evidence that would be useful for determining the truth about criminal activity.
Increasingly, criminals use computers and leave behind digital fingerprints related to their activity. In this presentation, Derrius Marlin will discuss some of the tools and techniques he uses to perform forensic analysis on modern computer systems.
Derrius Marlin is an Information Security Engineer with the Office of Information Security & Compliance at the University of Florida.
7:30 - 8:00 Open discussion, meet and greet someone new
