Greetings Software Enthusiasts!
Google Web Toolkit is a Java-driven development kit that creates HTML and Javascript that works on most of the popular web browsers. I spent three days with Bruce Eckel and 2 teammates at his Web Frameworks Jam a couple of years ago when GWT first launched getting it up and running. Now, it's matured and we have a chance to learn in an evening what could easily take days on your own. Here's the announcement:
SunJUG: Google Web Toolkit
Wednesday March 19, 2008
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: FCCI Insurance Group
Street: 6300 University Pkwy
City State Zip: Bradenton, FL 34202
Topic:Taking a Look at the Google Web Toolkit
Speaker: RJ Salicco
In this session we will walk through the features of the Google Web Toolkit from a Java developer's perspective. From installation to application development and deployment, we will see how the Google Web Toolkit can help Java developers get work done. Google Web Toolkit takes our Java code and produces HTML and JavaScript to create a fully functioning Web 2.0/AJAX based Web application. We will discuss problems encountered when developing AJAX Web applications for cross browser support and how the Google Web Toolkit has solved our problems. Of course, we will also look at some code and we will see what it takes to create our own Java Web application with the Google Web Toolkit.
We will also be having a book giveaway. We have three excellent Java books to raffle off.
Food and refreshments will be provided by IT Resources
Meeting Schedule:
6-7PM: Food and Networking
