Fastest Codeslinger 2008 Solutions

Congratulations to Ian Taylor. He is the Fastest Codeslinger for 2008.

Ian took around 30 minutes to craft his solution in Ruby and post it to the local contest server.

A statement of the problem is here: http://www.gatorlug.org/node/199

Fastest Codeslinger 2008 Problem

If you want to try your hand at the Fastest Codeslinger 2008 problem, read on. Solutions will be posted later.

There are a large number of 9 digit integers in the range 123456789 to 987654321 where each digit only appears once.

The first number is 123456789, the second is 123456798, the third is 123456879 and so on.

No digit can repeat so 122345675 is not a valid number in this sequence. Also, none of the numbers will contain a 0.

What is the 100,000th number in this sequence?

Your entry must calculate the number.

IRC: A How-to for First-timers

For the first-timer, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) can be somewhat intimidating. The following recipe may help you over the hurdles. If you manage to reach GatorLUG chat, someone there should be able to help further smooth out any bumps.

Although Pidgin (formerly known as GAIM), XChat, and a host of other programs provide a similar facility, this recipe focuses on ChatZilla, a Firefox addon. You're running Firefox anyway, right?
